Dental Implant Tooth Replacements Reverse The Aging Process

The loss of your teeth can be very upsetting and uncomfortable. Fortunately, dental implant procedures replace your teeth in just one day. Even better, these new teeth can last for a lifetime.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants typically consist of three parts:

The Implant

The implant refers to the post that is attached to your jawbone. The post has a screw-like shape and is usually made from titanium. Your dentist attaches this post in a routine, surgical procedure.

The Crown

The crown is the prosthetic tooth. These replacements are high quality, realistic teeth made of durable zirconium or porcelain.

The Abutment

Some people are only missing a few individual teeth. In this case, the crown may need to attach to your existing teeth via a bridge or other structure. The connector is called the abutment.

All-On-4 Implants

Even if you lost all of your teeth, you can still benefit from new teeth in a day procedures. An implant known as “All-on-4” connects a full set of teeth to a person’s jawbone.

This implant uses 4 screw-like posts to secure a full set of realistic-looking teeth that fit more snugly than dentures.

The “All-on-4” option provides permanent, long-lasting teeth that also help a person chew and retain their facial structure.

The Dental Implant Process

Though you receive your new teeth in just one day, there are several steps that are required.

1. Exam and Diagnostics

Your dentist evaluates you to see if you are a good candidate for dental implants. We will check the health of your gums, mouth, and surrounding teeth. Some form of diagnostic will also take place with either X-rays or CT scans.

This allows the dentist to properly assess your nerves, bone structure, and other information needed to get you the best teeth.

2. Insertion: Part 1

This step is where you get your new teeth in a day. Your dentist conducts a routine surgical procedure to insert the screw(s) into your jawbone and complete any necessary bridges or connectors. The implant will be covered with a temporary tooth to allow time for your bone and gums to heal.

3. Healing

After the surgery, you have a few weeks of recovery time. You need to eat soft foods for a portion of this period. You may feel a bit of discomfort but that is normal and will not last. Your dentist will check your mouth during this time to ensure that everything is healing properly.

4. Insertion Part 2

After you mouth heals, you will be ready for your permanent tooth/teeth. The dentist replaces the temporary set with the new durable model that will look and work just as well as your natural teeth.
